Columbia Sussex Corporation Purchases Casino Queen

The Columbia Sussex Corporation is likely to acquire the Casino Queen riverboat casino. Casino Queen is a riverboat casino that offers popular casino games like video games, table games and roulette games.

The riverboat casino has been located near downtown of St. Louis, Illinois, for the last nine years. The purchase agreement was already inked between the owners of Casino Queen and the Columbia Sussex Corporation and it is only waiting for the approval of the Illinois State Gaming Board to be finalized.

If the purchase gets a go ahead signal from the State Gaming Board, it would be added to the long list of eight land based gaming sites and eighty three hotels of Columbia Sussex Corp.

Columbia Sussex Corp., a Kentucky based company, is also the foremost candidate in the bidding for the Aztar Corp.

Aztar Corp. is the company that owns Tropicana casinos located in Atlantic City and in Las Vegas.

The projected sale of the river boat casino comes after the owners of Casino Queen decided that it was time to build a land based casino in the area.

The owners of Casino Queen will build a multi million dollar casino and hotel project if the riverboat sale is approved. The new casino facility will be the first land based casino in the state of Illinois.
